ROMJig®

The ROMJIG : A movable screen jig designed for primary separation of rejects from coarse raw coal operates with mechanical lifting during material’s free fall. This single-cut machine efficiently processes grain mixtures of 400 – 30 mm size separating them into light and heavy fractions at low operating costs. The jig, working in a water bath, utilizes a hydraulically moved rocker arm for feed loosening and flow of material. Rejects are discharged by a controlled discharge-roll reflecting reject layer thickness. The separated coal and Reject undergo dewatering by a twin-type bucket elevator. The ROMJIG offers advantages like no hutch water clarification, low water and energy demand and minimal ancillary equipment, outperforming other refuse separation methods. The new-generation ROMJIG with a 2.0 m width achieves over 95% purity for rejects and operates with a closed water circuit, reducing specific water and energy demands. It optimizes downstream process stages, reduces fines comminution, ash content, machinery wear, and specific energy demand. The separated rejects can be stored in mined-out cavities, minimizing environmental impacts. The ROMJIG proves efficient for steam coal preparation globally reducing specific transport costs and supplying power plants with raw material of increased calorific value. In Bina/India three ROMJIG units efficiently process coarse coal delivering a mixed product to the power plant. With up to 65 machines globally, over 50 are in operation in China for raw coal deshaling.
